Joseph
Joseph was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. While earning his BA in Psychology from UCLA, he participated in many musical theater productions. After graduation, he attended the National Circus School (École Nationale de Cirque) in Montréal, Quebec. He completed the 3-year program and began working with Cirque du Soleil , The 7 Fingers and La Clique. He was an original cast member in Nebbia, a co-production between Cirque Éloize and Teatro Sunil, with which he toured internationally for 2 years. He has since performed in events for various prestigious companies (such as Hermès and Mercedes-Benz) and, most recently, was in Circle of Eleven’s productions of Versus and Soap at the Chamäleon Theater in Berlin. This piece, Joseph’s graduating thesis, is about reflecting on the past, learning from experience, and moving forward. Inspired by his own history, he calls upon intimate and introspective moments to express a universal story. His intention was to seamlesly integrate new techniques with innovative choreography and transitions without comprising artistic integrity. Wanting to explore a different creative approach, Joseph used external sources to influence this number. Inspired by the Kill Bill films and his obsession with Japanese anime during his adolescence, he portrays a young man seeking retribution and redemption.
